Goodbye 2015!

2:10 PM Imke 33 Comments

The end of the year is now very near, and as the weather is incredibly mild for the time of the year here, I can still wear some of my light Autumn dresses, ripped jeans, and skirts with 20 den stockings. Hard to imagine that one year ago, I came home to snow during winter break, and now I start sweating when I wear my winter coat and cursed myself for not bringing sunglasses when going out.

Christmas Lights

Happy National Christmas Jumper Day! Finally, it's acceptable to wear my big, cosy Christmas jumper, and push the button that's on the inside of the jumper, and have Jingle Bells play all the time. Yes, my jumper can play Christmas songs, and yes, I'm proud of it. I got it last year at Primark in London, and I'm still so happy with my purchase, as it't the most comfortable thing to wear ever.

The Fishnet Challenge

9:54 PM Imke 23 Comments

As you might know by now, I'm all about breaking the so-called fashion rules, as you could also read in this recent post about how to combine block heels, velvet & a turtleneck. I already mentioned to you in this post that I love fishnet tights, even though they are perceived as either grungy, either slutty, and I'm neither of them, but I still love them. Many among you told me they loved the style,  but couldn't figure out how to adapt them to your wardrobe, or simply said to be sure they wouldn't look good on you.

Ladies, you don't know until you try, and I'm sure you too can find a way to adapt the fishnet stockings to your closet, and make it work with your style, whether you're classy, girly, tom-boy, grungy, minimalist, edgy or provocative style-wise. In my opinion, there's always a way, and today I'm showing you mine. I combined my fishnet tights with a comfortable woolen dress in blue marine and little silver details, which is slightly over-sized, and put on velvet high heels to keep the look a bit more business-like. Over it my favourite camel coat, and the grungyness of the fishnet tights is completely toned down, while still giving a certain edgy vibe to this look.

What do you think of the way I wear my fishnet tights? How would you (or do you!) combine them? And do you love these new heels I got off Asos as much as I do? Let me know in the comments.

A special thank you note goes to my friend and fellow blogger Gwladys from lady-gwladys.fr who took these amazing pictures - not only a great photographer but also a fashion blogger who just started blogging. Check it out!

Holidays Hair-do

1:16 AM Imke 30 Comments

Holidays are coming up very soon: less than a month away from Christmas, and with Sinterklaas officialy over (sadly enough) it's now time to shift my focus from pepernoten and chocolate letters to Christmas and New Year, time lovingly spent with my family back home, and, quite imporantly, what to wear, how to do my make-up, and what to do with my hair. I love scrolling through Pinterest and watching YouTube tutorials, looking for inspiration, and decided to share some of my favourite hair looks with you, looks that are potentially to be mine for the Holidays.

Velvetastic

Some say velvet clothes are for grannies and gymnasts only, others say big chunky heels are for goths, and many say turtlenecks shouldn't be worn by girls with a big buste. Well, this look proves them all wrong, as I combined every single prejudice and felt down-right velvetastic-fantastic in this look.

Fishnet Tights

Fishnet tights, also known as how to find the balance between rock-chick and hooker. Even though I love all things pastel, long hair, a nice nude lipstick & will always prefer a dress over jeans, I've always played with the thought of being a rock chick kind of girl, thoughts that started popping up right after Taylor Momson a.k.a. Jenny from Gossip Girl made this bad-ass transformation from nice schoolgirl to racoon-eyed rebel. I've never fully given into this tendancy, but I like to balance on the verge between the girly I-love-everything-pink kind of girl and the biker-boots-and-leather-jacket kind of girl. I love combining a girly dress with a chunky leather jacket, add a heavy cat-eye to the blouse & pencil skirt look, and wear my boots under literally anything. Another big inspiration for this look is gorgeous Luanna from Le Happy blog (hair goals).

Pink fluff

11:05 PM Imke 21 Comments

As you all probably know by now, I have a slight obsession with pink, and ever since I started watching Scream Queens, I've been lusting over pastel coloured faux fur. When in Primark earlier this week, I stumbled upon this gorgeous pink furry stole, and fell in love - big, pastel pink and as fluffy as it could get, for 10 euros this baby was mine! To tone down the Legally Blonde vibe a bit, I decided to go with an all-black look and a leather jacket.

What do you think of my pink fluff? How would you combine a faux fur stole?

The Wedding

12:21 AM Imke 23 Comments

First of all I wanted to thank you all for reading and commenting my last blogpost about the Paris attacks - it's simply hart-warming to see much love and support spread, and it gives me hope for the futures we're welcoming <3 Now back to an entire different subject...

As anticipated in several posts literally months ago, the weekend of the 7th of November, there was The Big Day, also known as the wedding of my boyfriend's Dad. I went back home to Belgium for the weekend, and had the most wonderful time, spending time with my family, my love, and his family. Saturday was wedding and we started with an early call - I woke up at 6:30 in order to get my make-up, hair and outfit done in time before going for breakfast with champagne with the bride, the groom & the closest family members.

Pray for Paris

1:35 PM Imke 24 Comments

I was scanning through old books, happily talking to my friend about all things nice, and reliving childhood memories while typing away on the vintage typewriter in Shakespeare & Company when one of the bookstore's vendors rushed upstairs, and announced the following: "There are terrorist attacks all over Paris going on right now, we're evacuating the building this instant, the shop is closing. Please go home immediately, unless you live in the north or the east, then do ask friends or family to host you. Be safe, this is serious...". I can't describe how I felt at that moment, only that my heart started racing like crazy, and the few people left in the store, my friend and I looked at each-other uncomprehenisvely - how could this have happened? How could my safe haven yet again be the victim of terrorists?

Sk8er Boi

2:55 PM Imke 29 Comments

Other nineties kids on here will most defenitely remember back when Avril Lavigne was still a rock chick and dominating all music hitlists, and in particular her song 'Sk8er Boi'. Re-listening this song while typing this and oh my, it still kicks ass and takes me back to many years ago, when I wished I was just half as cool as Avril Lavigne.

And every time I read or hear fashion term 'skater skirt', my head automatically goes "I'm with the skater boy I said see ya later boy" so hence the title of this post. Secretely I'm hoping I'm not the only one that makes this link, haha!

Scream Queens

4:54 PM Imke 30 Comments

As a big fan of Emma Roberts (role-model!) I've been wanting to see the new series 'Scream Queens' ever since its release was announced. Unfortunately, lack of time didn't allow me to watch from the pilot release on, but I'm proud to say I just finished catching up with the first seven episodes, inbetween all things going in life right now. And I must admit, it was just as I had anticipated - I'm hooked my dear readers, on this amazing series that sets the perfect mix between horror, comedy and chick flick.

Automne

5:08 PM Imke 22 Comments

Those who follow me on Instagram might have noticed already that I'm back in Paris after my London adventure and Belgian summer straight after. I had the loveliest time abroad and back home with my family, but it also feels amazingly good to be back here in Paris - it's like coming home to be here again.

Clueless

3:55 PM Imke 25 Comments

A true nineties kid by heart, I'm obsessed by Cher Horowitz, her exquisite wardrobe and the movie Clueless in general. Yellow tartan has been something I've wanted to add to my wardrobe since forever, and when at the opening event of the Dr. Martens store in Antwerp some time ago I spotted this gorgeous yellow scarf, I couldn't resist. Nineties to the max, I was thrilled to take this scarf home and pair it with my wide-legged jumpsuit and throw my leather jacket over it.

Trend colours - #1: PINK

8:53 PM Imke 26 Comments

It might seem like this Fall will be all about seventies colours like ocre, burgundy and emerald green, but there's more to Fall than these colours. When spotting all of the pink vibes in the AW15 collections and upon discovering cashmere rose was one of Pantone's fashion trend colours for the upcoming fashion season, I was thrilled. My favourite colour of all times, now a winter colour too? Can't get better than that! This post is all about inspiration on how to wear rose when the weather gets colder.

A play on the '60s with a twist of today, PANTONE 16-2215 Cashmere Rose is a tactile and soft pink hue that renders exactly what it promises. Cultivated in its richness, Cashmere Rose is a gentle and composed pink that is more upscale than downtown.
dixit Pantone.

Will you wear pink this winter, or will you stick to more classic AW colours? Let me know in the comments!

Houndstooth

4:09 PM Imke 30 Comments

Today I show you a very classic look, which made me feel like a fifties lady when wearing it with my heeled moccasins, black blouse, A-line midi skirt with the most classic print of all: houndstooth. I received this skirt from webshop Rosegal in exchange for a review, so here you go.

Rosegal is a Chinese webshop that offers about everything fashion-related: from coats to jumpers to skirts to bikinis to shoes and bags, and all for very low prices. So low you wouldn't expect the clothes to be properly made, but honestly, for the price you pay you can get the most lovely and original designs you can wish for.

That Seventies Trend

9:00 PM Imke 30 Comments

Now that Autumn is truly and fully upon us, and our summer wardrobe is having its last few minutes of fame before dissappearing again for half a year, it's time to focus on the new wardrobe we have dig up from the back of our closets. Scarves, coats, tights, sock, boots and knitted jumpers are upon us again, and if there's one trend that really big this season, it's the 70's era making its comeback.

Statement necklace - Happiness Boutique

5:04 PM Imke 24 Comments

When I received an e-mail from Happiness Boutique asking whether I was interested in reviewing one of their statement necklaces, I must admit I was so thrilled. I've seen their jewellery all over Instagram, and every style was so gorgeous, and for a good price too. To be reviewing this shop was wonderful, and I have only good words!

When browsing through their webshop, I spotted so many cute styles, but this one struck me immideately, as the description fit me so well I immediately knew this necklace was meant to be mine.

Mary Katrantzou SS16 - Cosmic Chaos

9:49 PM Imke 29 Comments

Guess where I was last weekend? If you follow me on social media, you probably know I was in my beloved city of London, but what's the best part about this, is that I saw my first high-end fashion show! And my fashion show 'carreer' started with a bang: Mary Katrantzou Spring Summer 2016 was an exceptional show, with an utterly gorgeous collection as you can make up from the selection of pictures seen in this post.

Rotterdam Cityguide

7:14 PM Imke 31 Comments

Only one hour drive away from where I live is Rotterdam, which before I only knew as the city with Europe's biggest harbour and the famous Erasmus bridge. I had never been to this city before, and didn't expect it to be so modern and trendy, so when my love and I had a daytrip to R'dam, we really liked this city, its amazing architecture and immediately decided to go back again.

Uniqlo A/W 15

6:06 PM Imke 22 Comments

When in Paris about a year ago, I saw a lot of people walking around with cool Uniqlo shopping bags, a brand I hadn't heard of before, but I was curious and went to check out their store near the Opéra. I fell in love with this Japanese brand immediately, as I love that their three keywords are simplicity, quality and longevity, and the good price for the amazing quality you get.

On The Rocks

12:00 AM Imke 37 Comments

Another post from the trip to Nice I made last month - this time quite an adventurous one. While having a morning stroll towards the harbour, we had a little YOLO moment when spotting a hidden flight of stairs on our way there, that went towards a little hidden spot of rocks, where the view over the sea and Nice was incredible. As it was still early, we were all alone on the rocks, enjoying the calm, gorgeous sea, which was the perfect shade of blue.

I was wearing one of my favourite holiday looks: a LBD, paired with a colourful scarf (to protect my always-burned shoulders), my Mary Katrantzou X Clutch that seems to have the exact same colour palette as the scarf, and a pair of Birkenstocks - my to-go shoes on holidays, as I could literally walk miles in them!

Dr. Martens Antwerp

8:29 PM Imke 25 Comments

Last Thursday (28/8) I attended the launch event of Dr. Martens in Kammenstraat 41 in beautiful fashion capital Antwerp. My sister and I went there together, all excited about this opening event, because Dr. Martens is a brand we both love, and this was the opportunity to release our inner rebel, and go all black/grey/punk scarf (sister) & leather jacket (me). Also my new pointy ankle boots made their debut, and I couldn't be happier about them.

Before going to the event, I browsed their website thoroughly, and decided I wanted this yellow scarf. Doesn't it just scream Clueless? And as for this launching event there was an exclusive -50% discount on everything in store. Everything. I swear you, the temptation to buy myself a pair of classic black shoes was incredible, but I resisted, and got my beloved scarf instead. Isn't it a masterpiece?

Also, how cute are these mini Dr Martens for kids? I decided straight away that my kid will strot around in a pair of these shoes, because how cool would that be? I actually saw this little 8 year girl trying on a few pairs, and she looked amazing, with her Harley Davidson leather jacket and Dr Martens shoes. Fashion has no age for sure!

And what's a store launch without good drinks & a bite? The drink of the night was Tanquerey Gin, served with pink tonic and strawberry. As you know me, anything pink makes me happy, so this gin was a little piece of heaven to me - not only very pretty and photogenic but also delicious. Also the food was amazing: right outside the Dr. Martens store, Bulls and Dogs were offering the best hot dogs I every had, straight from the Markthallen of Amsterdam City. I had a 'medium spicy' dog, and I assure you, it was delicious

I honestly had the most amazing night, discovering all these gorgeous shoes, bags and accessories - my love for the UK's coolest brand has definitely grown!
